Many people use their TVs for watching football games and also watching movies.
However sometimes blurring occurs when one is watching a movie. The problem of blurring occurs when the number of FPS does not go the same with the refresh rate of the TV. This means that certain frames can be repeated when other frames are not.
So for example if the source is putting out 24 FPS and the TV you have repainting the picture at 60 times per second ( 60hz which is the standard for North America ) while the TV is only sending 24 pictures a second the TV will have to start to repeat certain frames in order to covert the 24FPS to 60hz. But the ratio will have some left over frames which will have to be repeated more than the others. This causes the Soap opera effect.
The best thing to do is to buy a TV with a high refresh rate ( at least 120 Hz). However if the TV you own has a 60hz refresh rate , you can set the FPS to be a multiple of the TV refresh rate. This will ensure that all frames are repeated equally. So if your TV supports 60Hz the FPS should be set to 30. If the TV supports 120 Hz then the FPS to 30 and so on.
Of course the conclusion here is that the TVs which have higher refresh rates such as LG Trumotion will provide a better more smooth experience. So a 120 Hz TV will take a 24 hour FPS movie and display every single frame 5 times. A standard 60Hz TV will display the same image only 2 and half times. The point is the picture will be much richer with the higher refresh rate TVs.
